2025 UDC Scholarships

In August 2025 The Aunt Betty Fund, in partnership with the University of the District of Columbia (UDC), unveiled an innovative new scholarship program for students within one year of receiving their degree in education and seeking certification to teach in a Title I public school in Washington DC or other US city.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Is a current undergraduate or graduate student in good standing at UDC and enrolling for the Fall 2025 academic semester.
  2. Plans to complete an education degree no later than June 2026.
  3. Attended grades 9-12 and graduated from a US public or public charter school (including overseas schools for children of military or foreign service personnel).
  4. Is a US citizen.
  5. Is willing to commit to teaching at least 3 years in a Title I public or public charter school in DC or other US city. Scholarship funding will be subject to repayment if this commitment is not fulfilled.
  6. Has not previously defaulted on a student loan.
  7. Has no convictions, adjudicated complaints, or settlements involving felonious acts or violation of the rights of others.
